Representing Buyers and Sellers of Fine Homes in Piedmont, Oakland and Berkeley

Modern marketing strategies suggest that third person accounts  impart a certain objectivity, or authority, when creating language to describe the outstanding personality traits of a person in question.  Real Estate agents must market themselves to succeed in the digital world of today, and must find ways to set themselves apart from others.  However, in reviewing the language describing me, written by a third person, I decided to start fresh, remembering my own father, a pioneer broker in a large but rural community in Nevada, who would have called that kind of biographical information “self-promotin’” (that was back when one’s word was one’s word, and a handshake sealed the deal)

Yet people need to know about the realtor they hire. The stakes are high. The relationship is personal and intense. The fiduciary duty of agent to principal is enormously important and profound.

People choose agents based on the strangest information sources. Park benches and grocery carts have never appealed to me as a method of getting my name in lights. Websites can make the most inexperienced agents look like stars. My clientele comes almost entirely from personal and professional relationships, word of mouth, from people whom I have represented over the years. Countless transactions, successfully completed, have sown seeds which have sprouted and continue to spread. There is nothing as reassuring as hearing about a great Real Estate relationship from someone you know and trust.

So, in case you don’t know someone who knows me, I will tell you a few facts about me:

MY BACKGROUND: A small town girl from Ely, Nevada, where life was simple and isolated, where people were accountable to each other, because everyone knew who you were. An adventurer, who jumped at the opportunity to go to boarding school at Santa Catalina School for Girls at age 14, a life altering, enriching experience. An achiever, who enrolled at Cal, joined a sorority, experienced the Free Speech Movement in action, and graduated in four years with an English major. A born nester, knowing that for me, family was paramount, proud of three children, now happily launched. A long term resident of Berkeley, Oakland and finally Piedmont (since 1979), where the children were raised and educated.

MY EXPERIENCE: My early years of work included secretarial work, AFDC social work, bookkeeping and volunteer work in many areas of life including schools, scouts, sports, homeless projects, and many types of services for children with developmental disabilities. I served on many boards, the most important being Clausen House in Oakland, where my oldest, developmentally disabled child lives and thrives. My career in Real Estate began when my youngest child could ride his bike to every field and lesson. I knew, from my own experience as a child, that Real Estate would become a way of life, not just a job. I launched my career in 1986, and hope to live the life for many years to come.

MY PROMISE: My word is my word, as it has always been. I am still adventurous, and get excited about every new project, be it marketing a prestige listing, or finding the perfect home for a first time buyer. I am still an achiever, and pride myself on being  thoroughly educated as the business continuously evolves, and in turn,  a thorough educator to my clients, a caring counselor, a reliable guide, a creative negotiator, a true problem solver, and a constant communicator. And I am still a nester, so I understand the meaning of “home.” Selling residential real estate is not a sales job. Brokerage is an art, an ability to match needs and desires with reality, to discern nuance, to embrace a variety of lifestyles, to exercise  common sense with knowledge. The learning curve for succeeding in Real Estate Sales is enormous. Experience and intelligence matter.

MY REFERENCES: I have represented  lawyers, marketing directors, inventors, vintners, doctors, accountants, chefs, architects, designers, Merchant Marines, nurses, professors, scientists, teachers, writers, painters, scientists, dentists, musicians, businessmen and women of all kinds, investors, seniors, and fascinating people galore! Contacts upon request. Some comments from them:

“…thank you so much…your support and guidance made all the difference. I can’t imagine buying or selling a house without you at this point so I don’t know what we’ll do since we want to keep our new house for at least 20 years!” Adam and Lisa (sellers and buyers)

“…I don’t know anyone whose realtor has done that for them…” Don and Julie (buyers)

“…a belated thank you to let you know it was a pleasure working with you on the transaction…” (Nahid, cooperating broker)

“Thank you for helping us with EVERYTHING for the sale” (Phil and Tiffany, sellers)

…..I so appreciate how patient you were and how hard you worked on the sale…thank you, thank you for your professionalism and your kindness…Vicci has worked with MANY real estate agents over her many years as a paralegal and has told me that you are, by far, the best….” (Bette, Administrator for a trust)
